Now 25

Broadcast in November 2008 on the Smooth Radio Network.
Late 2008 marked the 25th anniversary of the most successful and best-loved compilation series in music business history. In this documentary Mark Goodier – the voice of 'Now That's What I Call Music' – tells the story of the series, mapping its musical progress from the days of Culture Club and Kajagoogoo to Dizzee Rascal and Duffy. We look back at the UK compilations business pre-1983, in a world of K-Tel, Arcade and the Ronco Dustbuster. When the very first ‘Now!’ collection was released, little did the executives concerned dream that they'd given birth to an idea that would survive all of the whims of music fashion over the next quarter-century, and sell 75 million albums in the process.
