Cut 'n' Paste
Pete Tong on the art and history of turntablism.
In a major coup for Wise Buddah, master turntablist DJ Yoda was persuaded to bring his skills on the decks to BBC Radio 1, to celebrate the art form that has made his name and has played an enormous role in the evolution of music - sampling.
Presented by Pete Tong, Cut 'n' Paste featured some of the world’s finest mix masters, producers and samplers such as Stanton Warriors, Stereo MCs, Steinski, Jaguar Skills, Amon Tobin & Giles Martin - whose experiences collectively span the genres of house, breakbeat, hip hop and rock. Each of them shared their insights into what a sample is; how they use a sample; how to create a sample; and their tips to the bedroom producers & DJs listening for achieving success in sampling.
