jon hillcock: radio
Current Activity:
Continuity, ITV 3
Continuity, Virgin 1
Voice of Blockbuster TV
Jon until recently presented Weekday 3-7pm and Jon Hillcock's New Noise on Saturdays on NME Radio across the UK online and on Sky TV, Virgin Media and Freesat and on DAB in London.
Prior to this, Jon presented on Xfm London where his passion for eclectic music of all genres helped establish a highly versatile accessible on-air presence both in daytime and as a specialist at night, where he became the regular dep for X-Posure’s John Kennedy.
Having been able to provide the first UK radio airplay for bands such as Arcade Fire, Klaxons plus many more on his overnight show, he was soon handed his own weekly new music showcase - New Noise - which enabled him to further develop a solid reputation, both amongst listeners and the industry, as a trusted musical taste-maker.
Jon also presented the Napster music podcasts interviewing new icons such as Remi Nicole and The Holdsteady.
As one of the UK’s brightest young radio stars he has been involved in the radio industry for some time. Having literally filled every role at Virgin Megastores Radio after graduating he helped Jonathon Pearce cover the Football on Capital Gold after being spotted presenting on Loughborough Student Radio.
The passion for music began with the first gig Jon got to: Bruce Dickinson's last ever Iron Maiden show at Pinewood Studios! Despite knowing nothing about the band he was taken over by the guitar heroics of Dave Murray and ‘drumtastic gurning’ of Nicko McBrain and has never looked back (although this could have something to do with the lampshade hair cut he sported soon after!).
Jon is also a successful voice over artist. You can hear regularly his writer/announcer continuity roles on Virgin 1 and ITV3.
